Hi viewers: Today we will discuss the phenomenon called "The Catalysis" Catalyst Catalyst is a substance which accelerates or retards the rate of chemical reaction and itself remains unchanged at the end of reaction. The process is known as Catalysis.   Catalyst are of two types 1)  Positive Catalyst and, 2)  Negative Catalyst If the reaction is accelerated by the Catalyst then the Catalyst is known as positive Catalyst   MnO2 acts as a positive catalyst in the formation of oxygen from potassium chlorate   MnO2 2KCLO3      =     2KCl   +  3O2     Platinum acts a positive catalyst in formation of Sulphur trioxide from Sulphur dioxide.
